Résumé - Abstract


  • Once more the French secondary education curricula for life and Earth sciences (SVT) propose the introduction of elements of the history of sciences into the teaching of this subject. The projected curriculum for year six classes majoring in sciences (1re scientifique) even envisages using the historical approach to teach the plate tectonics model. The reading of this curriculum shows yet another instance of a particular history serving a discourse on what science or a scientific model would be. By means of this case study and a survey of 150 years of the teaching of life and Earth sciences, this article sets out to discuss the nature of the history of sciences proposed for teaching and the repercussions of this curriculum.
